Minister for Children and Youth Affairs Barry Andrews launches FAI Code of Ethics and Good Practice

Minister for Children and Youth Affairs, Barry Andrews today (June 12) launched the FAI Code of Ethics and Good Practice policy document for children's football. The Football Association of Ireland has long taken its responsibilities in relation to child welfare very seriously and this document reflects the FAI's continued determination to ensure a safe and friendly environment for children's football.

Ford to provide transport for Ballymun United supporters to Derry

Ford, the sponsors of the FAI Cup, have ensured that Ballymun United supporters will not have to worry about the burden of making the 300 mile round trip to the Brandywell on Friday for their club's FAI Ford Cup Third Round game against Derry City this Friday, as Ford are provide a bus to transport over 50 supporters to Derry as part of their new 'Focus on the footy' campaign.

Irish U19s produce heroic display to defeat Sweden

The Republic of Ireland U19 side claimed a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Sweden in the final game of the UEFA Championship, Elite qualifying phase in Belgium today (Wednesday). Goals from Aaron Doran and James Collins secured the win but Irish manager, Sean McCaffrey, will be happy with his side's impressive possession play and a strong team performance against a very organised Swedish outfit.

Irish women set for 10 week USA training camp

Republic of Ireland women's senior manager, Noel King has announced a squad of 20 players who will take part in a 10-week training camp in Indiana, USA from June 18th - August 30th. The "Girls in Green" will also play a number of friendly games against top USA teams such as Chicago Red Stars, Notre Dame, LA Sol and Louisville as well as South American, second ranked team, Argentina.

Crumlin United 1-1 Shelbourne. David McAllister's equaliser gave Shelbourne a second chance against non-league Crumlin as the Leinster Senior League side were deprived of a deserved FAI Ford Cup third round shock at Tolka Park on uesday. Trailing to Danny Loughran's penalty lead, McAllister eased the nerves of ten-man Shels.

Oyebanjo eyes Swedish victory in UEFA U19 Championship

Republic of Ireland defender, Lanre Oyebanjo has echoed the disappointment of his team-mates after they were ultimately knocked out of the UEFA Championship following two successive defeats to Belgium and Switzerland in the elite qualifying phase which is currently being held in Belgium. The Histon star says that only victory against Sweden tomorrow (Wednesday) will make up for the squads regret at missing out on the UEFA Championship finals.

Irish referees receive prestigious call-ups from UEFA

League of Ireland referee, Alan Kelly has been drafted into a seven man referee panel who will undergo fitness tests ahead of the UEFA U21 European Championships which will be held in Sweden from the 15th - 23rd June. Kelly's appointment represents the first such selection of an Irish match official at a UEFA tournament at that level. Women's referee, Paula Brady has also received a massive boost when she was selected to attend a fitness test ahead of the UEFA Women's U19 Championship which takes place in Belarus this July.

FAI unveils Argentina as first international fixture in Aviva Stadium

The Football Association of Ireland today (May 31) announced that agreement has been reached with the Argentine Football Association to bring the two time world champions to Dublin's Aviva Stadium. The Republic of Ireland senior team will play Argentina on August 11, 2010, an occasion that promises to generate an electric atmosphere and will mark the first international match at the new 50,000 seat stadium.

Robbie Keane's marvelous scoring record continues in draw against Nigeria

Republic of Ireland captain Robbie Keane scored his 39th International goal as Ireland came from behind to draw against Nigeria at Craven Cottage in Friday night's friendly game. Keane found the net eight minutes after Michael Eneramo had put Nigeria ahead on the half hour mark.

Scannell included in Under-19 squad for UEFA Elite qualifiers
